New solvent-efficient technique reduces chemical use by up to 70% in cellulose fibre production, according to study
VANCOUVER – A research team at the University of British Columbia (UBC) claims to have developed a cleaner way to produce rayon (viscose) which they believe could significantly reduce chemical use and improve sustainability in textile manufacturing.
The study, published in the peer reviewed journal Chem Circularity, was led by UBC Forestry associate professor Dr. Feng Jiang and doctoral student Huayu Liu.
