New study says significant changes are needed across supply chain for China’s textile and apparel sector to reach decarbonisation targets
SAN FRANCISCO – A new report from the Apparel Impact Institute (Aii) has warned that while China has the potential to accelerate decarbonisation in its textile and clothing sector, progress won’t happen without major changes across the entire value chain.
The study, published in collaboration with Development Finance International Inc., estimates that, based on current cost benchmarks and deployment assumptions, China’s textile and apparel industry will require at least US$40.8 billion in investment to reduce its emissions by 50% by 2030.
