Genetic spider silk pioneer adds to production facilities as it sends out its first commercial samples to apparel and textile brands

ANN ARBOR – US biotech firm Kraig Biocraft Laboratories is set to deliver its first commercial spider silk fibre samples, buoyed by new infrastructure that aims to produce more than a tonne of spider silk a month.

Kraig Labs says the sample shipments - to two sportwear brands and one luxury textiles company - mark its first revenue‑generating transactions and a shift from lab work to market‑scale trials.
