Environment minister orders textile EPR body to propose tough financial penalties on the likes of Shein and Temu

PARIS - france’s environment minister Monique Barbut has ordered the country’s textile extended producer responsibility (EPR) body Refashion to come back within days with proposals for tougher financial penalties on ultra fast fashion.

Barbut, alongside delegated minister Mathieu Lefèvre, instructed Refashion to design a 'malu' - an extra fee - within the existing EPR eco‑modulation system targeting ultra fast fashion items sold by companies such as Shein and Temu.
