Bangladeshi government to sell assets of industry giant to compensate thousands of garment workers after closure of 16 factories

DHAKA - The Bangladeshi government has moved to sell assets belonging to Nassa Group to pay long‑overdue wages and benefits to thousands of garment workers after one of the largest factory shutdowns the sector has seen.

Nassa Group, once employing over 30,000 workers across textiles, garments, banking and real estate, slid into crisis following the fall of the Awami League government in August 2024, triggering prolonged unrest in its factories.
