Bid to finance alternatives to wood pulp for textiles, and other products, in India, could be the blueprint for other markets, says NGO

DAVOS - Environmental NGO Canopy has formally launched its "first-of-its-kind" $2 billion blended finance blueprint to scale next gen alternatives to wood-based pulp for products including textiles.

The initiative, trailed by Canopy last year and now officially unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, aims to de-risk early projects and crowd in institutional capital for low‑carbon fibre made from agricultural residues and recycled textiles, rather than climate‑critical forests.
