Industry bodies flag concerns over EPR for textiles

BRUSSELS - A coalition of European fashion, retail and waste bodies has warned that emerging state‑run producer responsibility schemes could undermine the EU’s push for circular textiles by weakening core extended producer responsibility (EPR) principles.

In a joint statement, 18 organisations including Euratex, EuroCommerce, E‑commerce Europe, Global Fashion Agenda, Erion Textiles and several textile‑focused PROs say they are “concerned” by a growing trend to establish state‑owned or ‑controlled Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs) for new EPR schemes, including textiles.
