Ghana links with UNIDO to tackle textile waste

New circular economy hub aims to support textile sorting and classification, and enable second-life industrial applications

ACCRA / ROME – Ghana and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) are to establish a ‘Circular Economy Innovation and Textile Testing Centre’ in the country as part of a new strategy to tackle textile waste.

According to Ghanaian media reports, the proposed centre is a core component of an Italy-funded UNIDO project set up with Ghana’s Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
