New report accuses global brands of demanding rapid decarbonisation in Bangladesh while expecting their suppliers to pay for it

DHAKA - Global fashion brands are being urged to start paying for a just energy transition in Bangladesh’s garment sector, in a new report from the Stand.earth NGO, Oxfam in Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity (BCWS).

The report, entitled 'Fair Share for the Future', argues that brands are pushing suppliers to decarbonise while offloading the financial and social risks onto factories and workers who are already on the frontline of climate impacts.
