New EU rules stop the destruction of unsold clothes

BRUSSELS - The European Commission has adopted new rules that will outlaw the routine destruction of unsold clothing, accessories and footwear by large companies in the European Union (EU) from July.

Under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), brands will no longer be able to routinely incinerate or landfill excess inventory and returns as a standard stock management tool.
