When waterless dyeing met business reality

Supercritical CO₂ dyeing technology has been proven on the factory floor; but what has failed so far is a successful business model, the capital structure and the way this innovation was pushed into a risk averse dyeing industry with an established incumbent technology.

DyeCoo Textile Systems, founded in 2008 out of research at Delft University of Technology, was one of the sector’s most high profile bets on waterless polyester dyeing using supercritical CO₂ as the process medium.
