New report says that the EU’s Digital Product Passport will end up as a box-ticking exercise if it remains a brand‑side reporting project
BRUSSELS - The European Union's (EU) Digital Product Passport (DPP) for textiles could end up as a box‑ticking exercise, in which brands piece together partial data, instead of a system built on real‑time, verifiable supply chain information, a new report warns.
The joint position paper, from sourcing platform World Collective and data compliance specialist Kinset, argues that while DPPs are moving rapidly from policy to operational reality, current brand‑centric models are structurally unable to cope with the required volume and granularity of data.
