New EU duties set to hit Shein and Temu

BRUSSELS – Ultra-fast fashion platforms such as Chinese-owned Shein and Temu are set to be affected by new European Union customs duty rules for items in small packages after the changes were ratified by EU leaders.

The agreement, applying to parcels which enter the 27-nation bloc largely via e-commerce, abolishes the threshold-based customs duty relief for parcels valued at under €150 entering the EU – known as the de minimis threshold.
