Argentina's textile and clothing sector has lost more than 18,000 jobs since 2023 and is operating at just one-third of capacity, according to new data from the Analytica consultancy and the Argentine Textile Industries Federation (FITA).

The crisis has deepened under President Javier Milei's trade liberalisation policies, which have seen clothing imports surge 97.3% in the past year whilst domestic prices fell 30.6%.
