Kombucha drink ‘could treat textile dye water’

MANCHESTER - Fermented tea drink Kombucha could help textile dyehouses clean up their wastewater, according to new research by scientists in Manchester.

The study shows that the rubbery 'scoby' layer that forms on top of kombucha can act like a sponge and filter for dye, removing up to nearly 80% of colour from single-dye solutions.
