Remake closes after a decade of campaigning

Nonprofit behind the #PayUp campaign cites a sharp decline in funding, and a growing pushback against corporate accountability

SAN FRANCISCO - Fashion advocacy nonprofit Remake is to close at the end of the month after a decade of campaigning for garment worker rights and climate justice which included spearheading the landmark #PayUp movement.

Founded by Ayesha Barenblat, formerly of the ILO's Better Work programme, Remake built a network of 3,000 ambassadors across 80 countries in a bid to hold brands accountable on purchasing practices, wages and environmental standards.
