Uzbekistan cotton farmers still facing abuses – report

BERLIN – The Uzbekistan government is continuing to violate the human and labour rights of cotton and wheat farmers through a “coercive state production system”, according to a new report from Human Rights Watch and Uzbek Forum for Human Rights (UFHR).

The 85-page study, titled ‘Farmers Have no Freedom: Abuse and Exploitation of Cotton and Wheat Farmers in Uzbekistan’, notes that the abuses are persisting in the country despite recent agricultural reforms.
