Australia targets eco textiles boost with new strategy

Plans to revive Australian textile industry include expanding wool and cotton processing, circular manufacturing and fibre-to-fibre recycling

CANBERRA – A new ten-year strategy for the Australian fashion and textiles industry has put natural fibres, sustainable production and traceability at the heart of plans to revitalise the sector over the next decade.

The initiative, titled the ‘National Manufacturing Strategy for Australian Fashion and Textiles 2026 – 2036’ was launched by the Australian Fashion Council (AFC) and footwear and clothing brand R.M.Williams at Parliament House in Canberra on 12th March.
