A new legal analysis warns that China’s 15th Five-Year Plan embeds forced labour in Xinjiang on a permanent and expanding scale
BEIJING – China’s new five-year plan will entrench and intensify the use of coerced Uyghur labour in Xinjiang through 2030, according to a new report from the international human rights foundation Global Rights Compliance (GRC).
The analysis has direct implications for global fashion supply chains, and says its findings carry serious implications for brands and retailers still sourcing from, or adjacent to, Xinjiang-linked supply networks.
