Austrian technology pioneer Andritz says it is stepping up its push into sustainable textile recycling and is now prioritising advanced recycling solutions for both pre- and post-consumer textile waste.
Working closely with global partners to close the loop across textile and nonwoven supply chains, its supplies several segments of the textile industry value chain with solutions for predictive fibre quality control with materials suitability analysis, automated textile sorting technologies, and textile fibre preparation by means of shredding or tearing.
It also manufactures complete mechanical recycling lines from raw material to final fibres and most recently received an engineering order to design a manufacturing system for US textile recycling innovator Circ’s first, large-scale textile recycling plant.
The facility is expected to process about 200 tons/day of polycotton textile waste into separate cotton (for lyocell) and polyester streams, reducing the need for virgin raw materials.
Andritz says it aims to make the circular economy a practical reality for textile fabric and fibre suppliers worldwide.
