Plant fibre report maps growth path

COLOGNE – Non-cotton plant-based fibres could increase their market share by a third by 2035 but underinvestment and fragmented supply chains remain major brakes on growth, according to a new report.

The study, from the Fibral Global Plant Fibre Association, focuses on 36 fibre types, from established staples like jute, sisal and flax to emerging options such as pineapple leaf fibre, banana fibre, kapok and water hyacinth.
