Policy ‘gap’ leaves UK fashion exposed

BIRMINGHAM — The fragility of the UK’s fashion and textiles sector is being driven by policy failure rather than a lack of industrial capability or demand, according to a new report.

Published this week by Fashion Roundtable, in partnership with the Local Policy Innovation Partnership (LPIP) Hub at the University of Birmingham and its City-REDI institute, it argues that structural instability stems from fragmented governance, short-term interventions and weak coordination across policy domains.
