Philanthropic green fund invests $34 million in US research teams developing low-impact alternatives to the most widely-used fashion fibres

WASHINGTON DC — The Bezos Earth Fund has awarded $34 million in grants to scientists working on new materials designed to cut the fashion sector’s climate, waste and microplastics impacts.

The funding targets alternatives to rayon, silk and cotton, aiming to deliver fibres with comparable performance but lower environmental footprints, from production through to end of life.
