France fines Refashion over waste failures

PARIS – Refashion, the French government‑approved extended producer responsibility scheme for apparel and footwear, has been hit with a €170,000 administrative fine after officials ruled it failed to honour its obligation to pick up textile waste free of charge from parts of the country’s collection network.

Refashion, formerly Eco TLC, manages eco‑contributions paid by brands placing clothing, household linen and footwear on the French market and is tasked with organising nationwide collection and management of post‑consumer textiles.
