Further investment for protein-fibre startup

Solena Materials will use it latest tranche of funding to advance the development and industrial scale-up of its fermented protein fibre for the performance and premium apparel sectors

LONDON – Biotech startup Solena Materials has raised a further €1.4 million in funding to accelerate the production of its next-generation, protein-based fibres.

The latest funding, a result of its partnership with Netherlands-based fermentation technology specialist The Protein Express, will be used to fund the joint ‘Exprest’ project which is working to advance the development and industrial scale-up of the fermented protein fibre.
