France hits Shein with new €22m fines

French watchdog hands ultra-fast fashion giant two fresh penalties for environmental information failures and consumer rights breaches

PARIS — France's Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) has fined Shein more than €22 million ($24m) for multiple breaches of consumer law, including failures on product traceability, environmental information and returns.

The watchdog, which sits under the French finance ministry, announced two sanctions against the China-founded ultra-fast fashion platform following investigations completed in 2025.
