Grasim to invest $300m on lyocell push

MUMBAI — Grasim Industries is investing ₹3,094 crore ($309m) to add 110,000 tonnes per annum of lyocell capacity at its Harihar complex in Karnataka, in a move that will help push its total cellulosic staple fibre capacity beyond one million tonnes a year by 2030.

The Phase II project will comprise two lyocell lines of 55,000 tonnes per annum each, equivalent to around 150 tonnes per day per line. The first is scheduled to come on stream in 2028, with the second targeted for 2030, alongside a 55,000‑tonne Phase I lyocell line at the same site that is due to be commissioned by mid‑2027.
