SBTi launches long-awaited net-zero overhaul

LONDON — After two years of turmoil that saw its chief executive resign and a complaint lodged with charity regulators, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has today published its Corporate Net-Zero Standard Version 2.0, introducing a new approach to carbon credits and supply chain emissions.

The standard, which applies to more than 11,000 companies with validated targets worldwide, introduces a "best-efforts" framework that acknowledges companies cannot fully control their supply chains or access technologies not yet at scale.
