Deadly road crashes involving Cambodia’s garment workers reignite pressure on brands and authorities to fix long‑standing safety risks

PHNOM PENH — Fatal road accidents that killed 14 garment workers and injured 79 others in Cambodia have triggered renewed demands for safer worker transport across the country's export‑driven apparel sector.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, nine people were killed and 44 injured when a truck carrying workers recently crashed in Kampong Chhnang, while a separate collision the same day in Svay Rieng left five dead and 35 injured.
