Recycling Europe calls for textile labelling overhaul

BRUSSELS – Recycling Europe has joined forces with a group of garment industry associations in urging the European Commission to proceed with a targeted revision of the Textile Labelling Regulation, arguing that the current framework no longer reflects market realities or newer EU textiles policy.

The signatories also back a move towards digital labelling, with less mandatory information on the physical label. It notes that bulky, multi-page labels are often removed or ignored by consumers, evidence that around 70% of consumers cut out large labels.
