HKRITA green machine for recycling polyester-cotton textiles

HONG KONG — The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Spanish textile technology company Jeanologia and US recycling specialist Looptworks to establish what the partners are calling the Green Machine Circular Textile Ecosystem.

The agreement marks the most significant commercialisation step yet for HKRITA's Green Machine 4.0, a hydrothermal process that recovers polyester at 98% or higher purity from cotton-polyester blended textiles without chemical solvents.
