California pushes back the first emissions reporting deadline under its landmark climate disclosure law, easing immediate pressure on big brands while leaving Scope 3 rules and enforcement questions intact
SAN FRANCISCO – The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has granted companies an extra three months to file their first greenhouse gas disclosures under the state’s Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act (SB 253), shifting the initial deadline from 10th August to 10th November 2026.
For apparel and textile companies, California’s timetable still sits alongside emerging climate disclosure rules in the EU and other markets, increasing pressure to harmonise greenhouse gas accounting and assurance processes across jurisdictions.
