Most companies now talk a good game on “responsible business”, but the OECD warns due diligence in supply chains is way behind the rhetoric

BRUSSELS – The OECD has warned that global business is “making commitments count” only on paper, with hard‑edged due diligence in supply chains lagging far behind the surge in responsible business pledges.

Its inaugural Responsible Business Outlook 2026 assesses disclosures from the world’s 10,000 largest listed companies and the policies of 52 governments adhering to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.
