French textile database exposes upstream impacts

Analysis of France’s Ecobalyse platform suggests the biggest environmental burden in apparel remains upstream, while the system strengthens the case for full-lifecycle footprinting

AMSTERDAM – New analysis from France’s environmental cost platform for textiles shows raw materials and manufacturing remain the main drivers of garment impact.

The database has more than doubled over the past three months and could now be significant enough to become a live test case for EU textile footprint policy.
