Global Standards overhauls its governance with a new foundation as regulatory scrutiny of voluntary sustainability standards intensifies

STUTTGART — Global Standards, the non-profit behind the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), has established a new independent charitable foundation and strategic governing council to strengthen the independence of its voluntary sustainability standards.

The newly created Global Standards Foundation, incorporated under German law, becomes the sole shareholder of the operating organisation, which has been formally renamed Global Standards gGmbH. The move is designed to ensure strategic decisions are guided by independent expertise.
