Item-level IDs backed for DPP roll-out

BRUSSELS — Industry experts working on the EU’s CIRPASS-2 project have strongly backed item-level identifiers as the long-term anchor for Digital Product Passports (DPPs) in textiles, while warning that batch-level rules remain poorly defined.

A new survey of 48 members of CIRPASS-2’s Expert Working Group 3 (textiles) shows overwhelming support for encouraging item-level identification to prepare for more advanced circular business models such as resale tracking, repair history and product-as-a-service.
