USTR urged to back circular textiles

WASHINGTON DC — American Circular Textiles (AMCIRC) has urged the Office of the United States Trade Representative to ensure a proposed textile trade incentive programme explicitly rewards recycled fibres, reuse and domestic recycling infrastructure as part of new Section 301 forced labour measures.

In formal comments filed to USTR’s ongoing Section 301 investigations into imports linked to forced labour, AMCIRC argues that recognising circular manufacturing inputs would strengthen US and wider Western Hemisphere textile supply chains while reducing exposure to higher-risk sourcing hubs.
