Safety crackdown shuts Bangladesh apparel units

DHAKA – The recent suspension of operations at three readymade garment (RMG) factories in Chattogram’s North Kattali area underscores the challenge of maintaining structural integrity in Bangladesh’s apparel hubs.

Operating under the oversight of the Bangladesh government, the RSC is tasked with reporting and monitoring the Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) of thousands of factories. In this instance, the RSC’s intervention identified ‘serious structural weaknesses’ that it warned could result in catastrophic failure if left unaddressed.
