France steeply raises fast fashion penalties

PARIS – The French government has presented a draft decree setting much higher-than-anticipated financial penalties for products of ultra-fast fashion companies after passing its landmark “anti-ultra-fast fashion law”.

The new decree forecasts penalties of up to €20 per piece by 2030, double the amount reported when the news of the law first broke. This includes a cap of 50% of the price, excluding tax.
