EU textile body warns on due diligence rules

BRUSSELS – Euratex has urged the European Commission to ensure that upcoming guidance on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) delivers “practical, risk-based and harmonised” rules for brands and suppliers across global value chains.

In its submission to the CSDDD consultation on implementation guidelines, it backed due diligence as a tool to secure “meaningful human rights and environmental outcomes” but warns that poorly designed rules could trap companies in red tape rather than driving change.
