A legal case in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio should be seen as an early warning for the textile sector
COLUMBUS – Four CNA insurance companies have filed a declaratory-judgment complaint seeking to nullify their duty to defend or indemnify textile manufacturer Standard Textile Carolina. The case in an ongoing environmental lawsuit involving per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), widely known as forever chemicals.
While insurers are currently funding the defence under a strict reservation of rights, this new coverage action highlights a mounting threat to textile companies: insurers are aggressively drawing lines in the sand over forever chemical liabilities.
