Scientists test plant and waste‑based dye‑fixing agents for cotton in Bangladesh in push to cut hazardous metals from textile effluent
WUHAN — A new international study claims to demonstrate a fully metal-free natural dyeing route for cotton using pigments from Mirabilis jalapa flowers and plant- and waste-derived bio-mordants.
Researchers at Wuhan Textile University worked with colleagues at Jashore University of Science and Technology and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology to test five low-cost mordant sources on cotton fabrics.
