Bangladesh’s garment sector must modernise core production technologies to cut energy use, report says, as a gas shortage stops output at more than 100 factories
DHAKA – A new study has revealed Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) sector is caught in a structural trap where expanding machinery under existing technology could increase overall energy consumption rather than improve efficiency.
This is compounded by an acute gas shortage that has already stopped production at more than 100 factories.
