Researchers say a recoverable thymol and menthol medium can colour polyester at lower temperatures while reducing auxiliary use

SHANGHAI — Researchers at Donghua University have developed a recoverable dyeing medium for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that they say achieved effective colouration at 120°C -  10°C below a conventional benchmark.

The work, published in Sustainable Materials and Technologies, aims to address dyeing’s dependence on high heat, water and auxiliary chemicals.
