US seeks curb on EU corporate due diligence laws

Washington wants EU rules limited to European operations, potentially narrowing corporate responsibility for overseas apparel sourcing risks

BRUSSELS — The US government has asked the European Union to limit the reach of its supply-chain due diligence rules to goods made and services supplied within the bloc.

In submissions on guidance for the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), Washington said the law should apply only to EU subsidiaries or EU business partners of US companies.
