Apparel and textiles are among sectors hit as Washington delays wide-ranging tariffs pending fresh trade talks with Ottawa
OTTAWA — The United States has delayed new 50% tariffs on Canadian exports, including textiles and apparel, giving Ottawa a narrow window to negotiate a deal, according to the Canadian Apparel Federation (CAF).
The White House postponed the tariffs' effective date from 19th August to 22nd August 2026. CAF called it "a short administrative extension, not a withdrawal".
