Boohoo has been ordered to pay €2.33 million in France after regulators found widespread breaches involving misleading discounts and false descriptions of synthetic textile products as leather and suede

The fine comes amid increasing French scrutiny of fast fashion practices

PARIS – France’s consumer protection authority has fined British fast-fashion retailer Boohoo €2.33 million ($2.73m) for deceptive commercial practices, including fake discounts and misleading product labelling on its French website.

The country’s Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) announced the sanction following an investigation into hundreds of products listed on Boohoo’s platform.
