Chinese researchers report a selective chemical route that recovers polyester while retaining stretch fibres in blended textile waste
SHANGHAI — Researchers at Donghua University have developed a chemical recycling process that claims to selectively break down polyester in blended textile waste while retaining spandex and cotton fibres.
The peer-reviewed study, published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials, examines a solvent system combining sulfolane, ethylene glycol and potassium hydroxide.
