India launches public procurement scheme for recycled textiles

MUMBAI – India’s national public procurement portal, the Government e Marketplace (GeM) has partnered with the government’s Ministry of Textiles aimed at increasing government procurement of products made from pre- and post-consumer textile waste, scrap and second-hand clothing.

The agreement was signed during the Textiles Committee’s 62nd Foundation Day event in Mumbai by GeM additional chief executive Ajit B. Chavan and Textiles Committee secretary Kartikay Dhanda.
