Fair Labor Association says contract workers are being used for permanent textile and garment production roles, creating legal and compliance risks
WASHINGTON DC - The Fair Labor Association (FLA) has warned fashion brands sourcing from Pakistan that suppliers may be misusing temporary and third-party labour arrangements to fill permanent roles in textile and garment production.
The practice, it says, has created a “two-tiered” workforce in many supplier facilities, where contract workers perform core manufacturing functions alongside permanent employees, but with significantly fewer rights, benefits, and protections.
